你把后面这划线的部分删了，就不好理解了，
Sam 是 Rays的恩人，一路提拔他。Sam因登山忽然死亡，（已成高管的）Rays 得把消息传给Sam的家人。然后就让Sophie把这个Hajib Kafir找来，以交办传递信息的事。
划线部分，由于Sam的死要把Kafir找来，等于是这“死的不良反应”把这混球Kafir的好事给黄掉了，即Rays一看，就了解这个Kafir是刚从口口口口下来。
所以，So Sophie had not found him in a nightclub. 意思是，什么一塌糊涂的怂样，如果Sophie不是在夜总会找到的他才怪呢。He would not have such adisheveled air if Sophie had not found him in a nightclub. --- 是在夜总会找到的。
